Well, hello everyone! I figured it would be a better idea to put all of my thoughts and ideas into one place, instead of posting a new thread every time I have another idea.
This means that discussion on specific suggestions is going to be a little more difficult than normal, but if a certain thought or suggestion turns out to be popular (or very unpopular) I can always make a seperate thread for it.
Here are my thoughts after playing the game for a couple of hours. I will create new posts as soon as there are new thoughts or ideas I have.
I think it is a bit silly you start out pretty much completely naked. It would be nice if you had at least a pair of pants, some shoes and a shirt on. They don't have to have any bonuses attached but at least nobody will be naked at the start.
The hunger mechanic
Currently, I feel like I am constantly busy trying to keep my hunger away. You grow hungry too fast, and it means I have to spend too much time trying to find food. Once you have a base, it becomes much less of an issue.
I don't want it to go away, I like it, because it makes food important and I actually think it would be fun to become a master chef in this game. But the hunger mechanic is too heavy. Hunger should be slower, and I don't think growing super hungry should mean you are going to die. At worst, it should make you terrible and slow at everything, but it shouldn't kill you.
EDIT 18/12 : I still think hunger shouldn't kill you, but once you have a small base, the hunger mechanic is actually good.
Which also brings me to my next point;
For a land that for a large part has yet been untouched by human hands, I feel there are very few animals walking around. And I don't mean I want more different animals (like cows or something) but I mean I don't feel like I run into hares/rabbits and grouse/birds (or whatever they are called in the English version) quite often enough. Especially hares should be pretty abundant.
EDIT 18/12 : If you read post #5 you will see I have some ideas concerning wildlife and where to find them.
The action bar
I mean the bar at the bottom, where you put your items and skills. I understand there will be a UI overhaul, so maybe this is already going to be implemented, but I think it could be a very good idea if you have two different ones, and you can switch by pressing a button. That way, you can have one action bar for your items, and one for your combat skills, for example. So you only see one action bar, but by pressing a button (such as tab) you can switch from your "Item bar" and your "Action bar", or even "Action bar 1" and "Action bar 2" (since you can decide yourself what to put where).
EDIT 18/12 : Actually, why not make it four action bars! :)
Player controlled NPCs
Maybe this is already in the works, but when I read the description on how everything is player controlled, and there are no NPCs, I wondered about something. What about allowing player controlled NPCs. Let me explain. For example, you build a house for yourself and you decide to train your cooking skills. You think it is a good idea to sell the food you create, but you can't always be online and in your house to sell it.
What if you can build a tavern (or general store, whichever you want) where an NPC can be assigned to sell the products you create. The same can be done for weapons, armour, everything! That way, an economy will be created more easily and people will probably also flock together more quickly in villages, which I think would be really cool. It would be awesome to enter a tavern and see a large group of people enjoying someone's ales, while maybe one player is playing an instrument to entertain the crowd.
It will also make it easier to specialise yourself, because you can trade your items for things you don't specialise in, and therefore people who want to can do something specific instead of doing a little bit of everything, which of course is already possible, but will be more interesting to do.
That's it for now. I am sure there will be other things I will think about, I will reply here when I do. Let me know what you guys think of my thoughts, and if there is something a lot of people want to discuss, we can always make a seperate thread. (Feel free to do so on my behalf)
