Hello. Im Newar.
The test phase is over. After playing the game for straight 3 days i decided to share all my experiences in game, with other players and hopefully Development Staff. I started the game with my friend we found a nice place, set up a camp and started our adventure.
Player character development
I can hardly imagine playing this game alone. It is more likely a peoples will create little communites, where they can do jobs they desire (gathering/hunting/crafting etc...). But actually game dont system reward u for specializing in 1 thing. I think there is lack proficiency or skill system, where u actually after doing something a dozens of times can do it better than total newb. For example: after killing XX wolfs u know better how to wield weapon and know wolf's wital spots so u can kill him faster.
Ancient books and planes - I think that current lets call it "skillbook" system is plain bad idea. This automaticly denies job system wich i think the most players would enjoy. Fist flaw is the books is automaticly used and disappears after picking it up. Second flaw in this system is that books give u new recipes randomly. It seems funny when ur character get new recipe and dont even know how to make required tool.
I think it would be fine if player actually could carry the books, and give/trade them later. Or at least there should be way to learn receipes from othere players (sharing knowlege is important).
On the other hand i think it would be good to remove skillbooks. and let player characters learn new receipes depending on mentioned profiency. And make exceptional books in treasure chests wich are better than items made via profiency receipes but unnescary to continue the progress.
This is the part i really enjoyed. i had connected camp with my friend so i had some place to build. We set our camp next to little lake in hope of some water related activities. But there was no such thing. I know that was early stage test, but i hope that there will be some kind of fishing, or/and simple sailing in the future releases. It would be nice to be able to create multi floor buildings and maybe some basements. other than that is see no much issues.
WTF Disappering items?
Also i figured out how to make roost work. I created my snare and go find my Hen. When i found one i threw snares and was suprised that i lost my snares withouut any way of recycle it. Ok so i caught my Hen and returned back to camp. I put my hen in and gave him some wheat as food, I waited some time and them my almost blown. Please tell me this is a bug but the hen dissapears leaving some eggs behind.`` To sum up u bunch of materials to build roost and snare +some time just to get 4-5 eggs? Same goes for pots after leather tanning. There needs to be recycle system cause this is unreal.
It's good that game let u know what amout of wich materials u need to create item. But it would be also nice to know how many items u will get as result. There are also missmatching like u need 1 pot to create tanning liquid and get 5 pots of it as result(magic multiplication?).. Also i dont understand how can u sometimes get 2 buckets of water after 1 use of well.
Tools and item durability.
So i think there needs to be some kind of durability of tools/armors/weapons. Why?. Because without it worlds would be full garbage lying all around.(Thet would heavier load the server). Also i didnt seen a diffrence between mining using stone and iron pickaxe.(didnt had chance to test out other tools.).
I know u were talking about world size expansion so i wont complain about it size.
Exploring world in Wild Terra is dangerous. Not because of wildlife but because of other players. I liked it but also hoped that animals would create much more of a threat. Some creatures should work in herds like wolfs. They should be attack or move in pack, and do not let u lure out 1by1
Stamina system is quite unbalanced. Especially when looking at sprint compared to other activities like mining. It takes as much stamina to make 1 step in sprit as chopping down the tree or mine tree sized boulder.
Patchfinding is non-existent for player character in this game. They stuck on 1 tree and wont do anything without intervention of player. Animals aren't much better + they have dump AI
Also basic materials(piles of stones and woods)should be gathered faster. U just go and pick them up..
Also for other suggestions
-Maybe do not add minimap to the game, but make option to craft a map.
-Player names should be constantly visible but maybe after u look at them(aim cursor)
-Increased a bit spawn rate. And make animals spawn in more random spots.
-when u have distance weapon u need to press shift in order to attack other players cause sometimes u can accidently attack someone whenu are trying to move around.
There also were some bugs (wich i will post also in bugs section)
Some animals are simply static. They stay in 1 spot and gladly take all spears until pass out.
Sometimes u can still shoot an weapon even after canceling action.
Sometimes when u fight and move around a lot u can hit someone but see projectile flying in other direction
