so I just bought into the game yesterday for $15 to check it out. Fun little game so far with some promise but I haven't seen ONE other player, seriously.. Is this because no Americans are playing it? OR because noone really is at all in general? Maybe once it's out on steam.. Would be nice to have some people to play with.
Where is everyone?
It is a very small number of people who playiing in this game but this game its really good. I do not know the game better in terms of harcore pvp on this moment. As is the case of game with most probably known Tree of Life, when world map is big its hard to find player but this does not mean that no one playing. These photos were taken today, a few minutes ago.
My opinion of the lake of players :
- this is not a hard core pvp game, you can own anybody naked with a bow, and when you die you lose nothing, no xp points, no gear beside your bow, and if you stay in a safe zone nobody can teal your stuff in your house.
- for $20 you can got gloria-victis, a true hard core pvp game, were you need to craft an armor and stuff to defend against enemis, and there is a lots of people playing, crafting, trading, raiding, ...
This game is only good if your have a PC that cant run "modern" games, and even in that case, Haven & Hearth is a better full pvp game for light PCs ( there is no safe zone, all your stuff can be loot and you need gear to go out, your house can be loot to, you need to play with people to maque valuable things ).
And H&H is free with just strictly cosmetic cash shop.
An other reason for lake of player is that there is nothing to do beside beautifull houses that nobody will never see cause once new players managed to make a palissade, and kill bears with bow, make an iron saw, there is nothing usfull to do, so people play, have fun an afternoon, then leave.
I'd disagree with stingo on a couple points.
Haven and Hearth is faulted by it's own problems, the developers still fail to fix an nvidia graphics issue that plagues an outstanding majority of it's would-be players. Also, the community is absolutely full of griefers, not to mention that unless you team up with 8-10 other players the minute a world wipe and reset happens, there are several large, long time guilds that will have stone walls, full armor and weapons by the end of the week. You will be found, and you will be raided until you want to quit. I was a part of those guilds, I speak from experience. Also, the game has been around for something like 7 years now, of course it is much more complete this game which is still in alpha. The developers have only returned to updating it after the monumental failure of their other game, "Salem".
With that being said, this game has much more potential.
As for gloria victis, he is correct. That game is much prettier, much more hardcore, and has much more funding and a bigger studio to draw from. It is a fun game, but not suited for everyone. If you currently have a low end pc, like myself, then this is the game for you. Stick around long enough, support it, and you'll see new players show up. Spread the word yourself and get some of your friends to play. It is the developers job to create the game, it is OUR job as players to create the community.
Also, one thing I forgot.
There is no "owning" with a bow. Put it in any real pvp setting in this game, and watch as an experienced player dodges every single arrow to gain ground on your unscathed. In 150ish ping, it's very easy to watch someone draw a bow, and the arrow flight is slow enough for it to be easily dodged. The one arrow you may actually hit with, assuming Im in full noble armor, is the one where I'm already standing right in front of you impaling you with a sword. By that time, it's too late.
This game does promote hardcore pvp, you will die to someone, and you will lose everything of worth you have on you. Syntaxx, i see that you are one of the few other Americans we have here. I'm on most of the day, and I have been every day since I returned last week. I wouldn't mind helping you out a bit, and if you want, feel free to build next to me. Send me a message on the forums whenever you feel like playing, I'll let you know where to find me.
