I was looking at my base and this idea stuck me while seeing the lifelessness of it.
Why not have hired NPC? Let the player have the opportunities to hired NPC such as maid, innkeeper merchant or guard.
maid can do thing like cook food etc
innkeeper sell wine set spawn point
merchant can sell the thing of the player to other player
guard can equipped player craft gear and defend during siege.
Of course you can set limit to the number of npc per domain
1 for small
2 for med
3 for large
4 for noble
and you can include special NPC in market.
